FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know before your visit to LLL Well.
If there's anything else you'd like to ask, our team will always be happy to help.
CONTRAST THERAPY
What is Contrast Therapy?
Contrast Therapy combines heat and cold exposure. At LLL Well, our private Contrast Therapy Suite brings together a full-spectrum infrared sauna and Helix ice bath, allowing you to move between deep, restorative warmth and invigorating cold immersion.
It's an incredible wellness ritual for recovery, relaxation and that unmistakable post-contrast feeling of being completely refreshed and re-energised.
What is included in my Contrast Therapy booking?
Your booking gives you exclusive use of our private Contrast Therapy Suite for 50 minutes.
The suite includes a full-spectrum infrared sauna, Helix ice bath, private shower and changing space, so you can enjoy the entire experience completely privately and at your own pace.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely. The Contrast Therapy Suite can be enjoyed alone or with one additional guest, with a maximum of two people per booking.
Simply select the additional guest option when making your reservation.
Do I have to use both the sauna and ice bath?
Not at all. Your 50 minutes are entirely yours.
You may choose to alternate between hot and cold, spend more time in the sauna, enjoy shorter cold immersions or simply take things slowly. There's no pressure to stay in the ice bath for a particular length of time.
Should I sauna or ice bath first?
Many guests like to begin with the infrared sauna before moving into the ice bath and repeating the contrast throughout their session.
There isn't one perfect sequence, so we encourage you to listen to your body and find a rhythm that feels right for you.
How long should I stay in the ice bath?
Cold tolerance varies considerably from person to person, particularly if you're new to cold immersion.
Start gradually and allow your body to acclimatise. Short, controlled immersions are absolutely fine, there's no need to chase a particular time or push yourself beyond what feels manageable.
How cold is the ice bath?
Our Helix ice bath uses a precision chiller to maintain a consistently cold water temperature for a controlled cold-immersion experience.
The exact temperature may vary between 3-8 degrees, so please ask our team if you'd like to know the exact temperature during your visit.
What should I bring for Contrast Therapy?
Please bring swimwear. Non-Members will also be required to bring a drying Towel.
You'll have your own private shower and changing space within the suite, and we recommend arriving well hydrated so you're ready to enjoy the full experience.
INFRARED SAUNA
What is a full-spectrum infrared sauna?
Unlike a traditional sauna, which primarily heats the air around you, an infrared sauna uses infrared wavelengths to deliver radiant heat.
Our full-spectrum sauna combines near, mid and far infrared, creating a deeply warming and relaxing experience at a lower ambient temperature than many traditional saunas.
How hot is the infrared sauna?
Infrared saunas operate differently from traditional saunas and don't require extremely high air temperatures to create their characteristic warmth.
Your sauna will be preheated ready for your arrival, allowing you to simply step inside, settle in and enjoy your session.
Will I lose weight during an infrared sauna session?
You may notice a temporary reduction in body weight following a sauna session due to fluid lost through sweating. This is water loss rather than fat loss and will naturally be restored as you rehydrate.
While heat exposure increases cardiovascular demand and energy expenditure to some degree, we prefer to think of infrared sauna as a ritual for relaxation, recovery and overall wellbeing rather than a weight-loss treatment.
Does infrared sauna burn calories?
Your body works to regulate its temperature during heat exposure, which can increase heart rate and energy expenditure.
The exact amount varies considerably between individuals, so we don't recommend thinking of your sauna session as a replacement for exercise. Instead, it's an opportunity to slow down, switch off and enjoy the restorative warmth.
How often can I use an infrared sauna?
Some guests enjoy infrared sauna occasionally as a restorative reset, while others make it a regular part of their weekly wellness routine.
If you're new to infrared sauna, we recommend starting gradually and finding a frequency that feels good for your body.
Can I use the infrared sauna after exercise?
Absolutely. Many guests love incorporating infrared sauna into their post-workout recovery ritual.
We simply recommend allowing yourself time to cool down and rehydrate following an intense workout before beginning your sauna session.
Are your saunas near, mid or far infrared?
All three. Our saunas are full-spectrum, combining near, mid and far infrared wavelengths.
What is Chromotherapy?
Chromotherapy, or colour light therapy, uses different colours of visible light to create an immersive sensory environment within the sauna.
Choose the colour that complements your mood, or simply enjoy it as another relaxing element of your sauna experience.
PRESSOTHERAPY MASSAGE
What is Pressotherapy?
Our Pressotherapy treatment uses Normatec dynamic air compression to rhythmically massage the legs.
Specialised compression boots gradually inflate and release around different areas of the legs, creating a wave-like massage designed to support circulation and recovery while leaving your legs feeling lighter and refreshed.
What does Pressotherapy feel like?
Think of it as a rhythmic compression massage for your legs.
The boots inflate sequentially before releasing and repeating the pattern. The pressure feels firm and supportive, and the intensity can be adjusted to suit you.
Simply lie back, switch off and let the Normatec system do the work.
What are the benefits of Pressotherapy?
Pressotherapy is particularly popular for tired or heavy legs, post-exercise recovery, supporting healthy circulation, travel recovery and those who spend long periods sitting or standing.
It's also a favourite with guests who simply love that wonderfully light, refreshed feeling afterwards.
What should I wear for Pressotherapy?
Comfortable, lightweight clothing is ideal; leggings, joggers or activewear work perfectly.
The Normatec boots are worn over your clothing, so there's no need to undress.
Can I use Pressotherapy after exercise?
Absolutely. Normatec is particularly popular as part of a post-training recovery routine.
It's also a lovely treatment after a long day on your feet, following travel or whenever your legs are simply craving some attention.
How often can I have Pressotherapy?
Some guests enjoy Pressotherapy occasionally, while others make it a regular part of their weekly recovery and wellness routine.
How often you choose to visit will depend on your lifestyle, training and individual wellness goals.
HYGIENE
What precautions do you take around hygiene?
Your experience, safety and wellbeing are always our priority.
Dedicated turnaround time is built into our bookings so that the Contrast Therapy Suite and Pressotherapy equipment can be thoroughly cleaned and prepared between guests.
Our Helix ice bath uses a high-capacity filtration system which continuously circulates the water, alongside our dedicated water-quality, sanitation and cleaning procedures.
We also ask guests to shower before entering the ice bath to help us maintain excellent water quality throughout the day.
Is the ice bath water changed between every guest?
Like a professionally maintained swimming pool or spa, the ice bath doesn't need to be completely emptied and refilled after every guest.
The water is continuously circulated through the Helix filtration system and maintained using our dedicated water-quality and sanitation procedures. The bath and surrounding suite are also cleaned and checked regularly throughout the day.
